A well established brand leaves traces of its legacy everywhere, even by the mention of its sacred credo a vast number of people would be aware of the brand associated by it. Just do it, does this credo seems familiar? Does it ring any bell to your thoughts? Oh yes, it sure did to us. There is nothing more dignifying then to have one's brand credo to be so synonymous that even by the mention of it, people will recognize the brand. Nike the mega household brand that is so famous of its swoosh logo has their Nike Cortez collection to be thankful for, since its debut 40 years ago Nike Cortez has develop Nike as a global brand making it one of the most sought after shoe brand in the entire world, all thanks to Bill Bowerman who designed the famous Cortez. This year Nike is celebrating Cortez's 40th anniversary where in celebration of it Nike has created a unique and out-of-the box initiative, launching their Cortez 40/40 ad campaign and working with 40 artists from 5 countries within Southeast Asia region; Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Philipines. Exhibited at Soleplay Menteng on the 31st of May 2012, Studio 1212, Ykha  Amelz, Ardo Ardhana, NSANE, TUTU, Nina Nikicio, Darbotz, and Kandura diplayed their interpretation of this legendary shoe. 

Tidak dapat dipungkiri bahwa bagaimana sebuah brand berkembang merupakan sebuah hal menarik yang perlu dipelajari. Sebuah brand ternama yang sudah established di sebuah masyarakat akan meninggalkan begitu banyak jejak dan ciri-ciri, bahkan dengan hanya menyebutkan motto dari merek kenamaan-nya pun, banyak orang yang sudah dapat menebak dan mengasosiasikan merek apa yang dimaksud. Just do it, apakah motto ini terkesan hangat? Apakah menimbulkan praduga akan sebuah produk? Hal ini tentunya sangat berkesan di hati kami, Nike. Tidak ada satu pun hal yang lebih memberikan apresiasi tinggi dengan bagaimana sebuah brand dapat dengan mudah dikenali hanya dengan mngucapkan mottonya atau dengan mendeskripsikan logo merek tersebut, dan Nike sebagai sebuah brand berhutang budi terhadap sebuah produk keluaran mereka 40 tahun silam yang bernama Nike Cortez. Ya, produk ini begitu berkembang hingga Nike dikenal sebagai sebuah perusahaan global, dan tahun ini untuk menunjukan apresiasinya terhadap Nike Cortez, Nike mengeluarkan sebuah advertising initiative dengan menluncurkan Cortez 40/40. Sebuah inisiatif dimana 40 seniman di seluruh Asia Tenggara dari 5 negara berbeda mendesain terjemahaan Nike Cortez menurut kacamata mereka; Indonesiam Thailand, Singapura, Malaysia, dan Filipina, semua merayakan warisan seni dari Bill Bowerman sang pencipta sepatu legendaris bernama 'Cortez' tersebut.
